As an artist I am constantly inspired to paint and draw from nature and most nature-related subjects. This focus has played a dominant role in my art since college and more specifically, since my graduate show at NIU entitled "Sea Life in Depth". Many years ago I considered a career in scientific illustration, but I became so excited about color, texture and design that I felt more attracted to the abstract quality of nature. While I will always remain IN AWE of feeling paint on paper or canvas, I have ventured into a more digital mode in the past few years. Like many other digital artists, I like to sketch, then scan my work into a digital program, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Then I am able to experiment with my favorites: color, texture and design. My most recent work has progressed with a more narrative feel because of this new interest in digital work. I feel all this has very exciting and far reaching potential for me as well as for my work.
